As expected, the high winds forcast for Saturday have resulted in major changes to the course for this years Ocean to City race. The race will now take the form of 10km loops of the Marina from the Port of Cork to Blackrock Castle-10km for any boats who intended rowing from Monkstown and 20km for those signed up to the City/Ocean course. There will be buoys and safety boats in the centre of the channel turning the Lee into a dual carriageway, with the finish line at Lapps Quay as planned. It has been a very challenging week for the organisers who have been heroic in their efforts to ensure that everyone gets a chance to race on Saturday. They have put months of planning to one side and essentially organised a whole new race in days. Massive credit is due to all the team at MM.It is really disappointing especially after all the months of hard work and training but it is what it is now, the weather can't be helped, and as host club for the event let's make the most of it and do what we do best and embrace the madness of it all. Final details on timing/registration etc to follow. Thanks everyone!
